Takeaways from the UA Select Super 16

This past weekend in Cape Girardeau, Missouri the Under Armour Select Super 16 championship took place. The 2021 division featured 19 teams competing for the crown. Jahlil Okafor's Team Jah Elite took home the crown with a win over SI Select in the championship game.

Team Jah Elite was the best team all weekend long in the tournament. Not one person dominating the scoring, Team Jah Elite had a balanced attack all weekend.

The five guys that stood out the most for Team Jah were: Javontae Pearson, Jordan Maxwell, Deont'e Edwards, Camren Hunter and Kareame Cotton.

JAVONTAE PEARSON - One of the most explosive guards on the circuit. Pearson can score but he sets the tone on defense with his pressure.

JORDAN MAXWELL - 6'4 wing, plays the 2-3 spot. Maxwell has a nice touch from beyond the arc, plays hard and above the rim already.

DEONT'E EDWARDS - Stands 6'6, one of the most athletic bigs in the 2021 class nationally. He plays above the rim, alters all shots at the rim and finishes well at the cup.

CAMREN HUNTER - One of the highest IQ guards on the circuit, a leader on the floor and his teammates follow him.

KAREAME COTTON - Cotton can score from all three levels on the court, A great defender and high motor player.

Two players for SI Select stood out all weekend. Point guard, Q'Daryius McHenry (KY) is one of the better athletes in the country for the 2021 class. McHenry is super strong and fast at the point position. In the semi-final win over Larry Hughes Basketball Academy, McHenry dropped 31 points in the win. He had many other double figure games including 17 points and 8 assists in the finals.

One of the most intriguing prospects of the weekend is Brandon Huntley-Hatfield (TN). He stands 6'7 and plays the wing position. Projected to be close to 7'0 tall he has possibly the most upside in the class over the next four years. He had a high of 25 points in the tournament, he was played by an ankle injury in the championship against Team Jah Elite.
